Full Highlight vs Half Highlight: What Should I Book?

This is one of those salon questions that seems obvious until you're actually staring at the booking menu.

So, what's the difference?

Blonde highlights at Gem House Salon in Greenpoint Brooklyn showing dimensional professional blonding

Half highlight or full highlight? It really comes down to where you need brightness and what you're trying to achieve.

Half Highlight

A half highlight focuses on the most visible areas of the hair, typically through the top and sides.

It's great for:

  • maintaining existing blonde

  • adding brightness around the face

  • dimensional color

  • guests who don't need brightness everywhere

Full Highlight

A full highlight allows us to work throughout the entire head.

It's usually better if:

  • you want an overall brighter result

  • the underneath of your hair feels too dark

  • it's been a while since your last larger blonding appointment

  • you're making a bigger color change

Still Not Sure?

You don't have to diagnose your own hair.

If you're looking for highlights in Brooklyn or a blonde specialist in Greenpoint, we can help determine how much blonding you actually need.

More foils aren't automatically better.
